Running time: 123 minutes
The story begins with the vampire , Louis, who meets with a boy conducting an interview of his life. They meet in a room in San Francisco, which is where the action begins. Louis tells his story which begins in a time to when he was a mortal man in late eighteenth century. After tragedy strikes his family, he encounters the vampire Lestat who makes him one of the undead. He exists off of the blood of animals until he comes upon a young girl, five years of age. He and Lestat take the girl and make her a child vampire. They live happily for seventy years, until Claudia begins to ask questions about her origins. Claudia is furious that she will never physically grow into adult. She blames Lestat for her nature, and both she and Louis believe Lestat dead when they prepare to leave for Europe. Eventually everyone leaves Louis and he carries on his eternal existence completely alone, which is how he prefers it.
The movie is more about the history and reality of vampirism than about specific events, although some action does center around of the fate of Lestat. One more thing about this movie, this movie has been said about the film's level of violence ( and although the R rating is quite correct ), but those who have seen other horror movies will not be particularly shocked.
In my opinion, one of the creepier aspect of the story is creation Kristen Dunst, who is 12 years old. The character was six in the novel, but even twice as old she is disturbing, trapped in her child's body as she ages, decade and decade. Dunst is somehow able to convey the notion of great age inside apparent youth.
